The BACH ETO embodies agility and stability in Rockpool’s latest high-performance design.

A multi-use sea kayak designed for medium to larger sized paddlers, the Bach ETO provides a refreshing combination of stability, speed, and responsive handling.

Hull: Length: 16 feet 11 inches (5.15m) – Width: 21.4 inches (0.54m) – Volume: 88.5 gallons (335 liters)

Cockpit: Interior: 31.5″ x 16.15″ (80 x 41cm)

Offering increased rocker, a generous waterline length, and added volume in the bow and stern, the Bach Eto is a both a fast and playful sea kayak. The hull shape maintains exceptional directional stability while underway and the flatter center with firm chines allows for more precise turns and handling in confined spaces.

The deck is refined to include a slight increase in volume above the waterline. This gives the paddler a smoother ride and superior handling in choppy conditions. A slightly wider cockpit gives way to an ergonomically designed seat pan, back band, and removable molded hip shims. The Bach Eto boasts a handy forward day hatch, optimized deck line configuration, and an integral stainless-steel security point.

Medium-Volume-Plus

A slightly raised deck allows for more interior depth, a standard leg position, and increased storage capacity. Additional volume in the bow and stern make for a more forgiving surf boat that easily catches waves and resists pearling.

Symmetrical Form

The widest section of the kayak is at the middle of the boat and thus provides an exceptional level of balance and maneuverability.

Dynamic Hull Shape

The combination of increased rocker with a firm chine, a vee hull, and a flattened midsection provides superior handling and effortless tracking.

Low Back Deck

Whether practicing rolls or self-rescues, the unobtrusive coaming and low back deck will aid in any number of back-deck pursuits.

Hull: With a focus on increased rocker and waterline length, the Bach Eto yields an impressive pairing of maneuverability and speed. The vee hull shape maintains solid directional stability while the flatter center and firm chines gives the paddler exceptional boat handling in confined spaces. The Eto is designed to have a neutral directional stability in most wind conditions and requires minimal use of the skeg.

The nose has been shaped with the fullness needed to maintain a buoyant ride through choppy conditions. The volume in the bow is nicely balanced with an equivalent volume in the stern. In concert, the two provide a gentle ride over large, steep swells, allowing the Bach Eto to accelerate nicely when catching a wave, and resist a buried nose while surfing. The hull shape makes for an excellent play boat that is incredibly forgiving when catching, riding, and peeling out of waves.

The fullness of the center section gives confident, predictable edging with a high level of stability. As the boat is tilted on edge, the stern progressively lifts from the water making the turn tighter and easier to perform. This combined with the firm chine facets yields a smooth, stable, and fast turning sea kayak.

Deck: The cockpit rim is keyhole-shaped with integrated thigh braces. A small hatch is located in front of the cockpit with a surprising amount of volume and utility. Adjacent to this hatch, a stainless-steel attachment point has been cast into the deck. This new feature allows for the attachment of a short tow line, a paddle park, or a secure locking point.

The Bach Eto has a well-appointed seat and backband that is built around a moderately elevated knee position. The improved geometry promotes a more comfortable alignment of the legs and feet. The configuration brings the legs further into play and promotes a more efficient, full-body paddling position.

The Bach Eto is fitted with the signature Rockpool adjustable footplate and adjustable seat pan. Angled slightly away from the paddler, the footplate affords a neutral ankle position while allowing the paddler to fine tune leg and foot configuration. The backband is integral to the adjustable seat pan and is designed to maintain an upright position. The removable fiberglass hip shims allow for customizable seat pan width. This paired with a padded adjustable backband, optional peel-and-stick foam padding for the seat, hips, and thighs, provide the paddler with a range of options to create a custom fitted and more comfortable cockpit.

An optimized deck line arrangement allows for forward or rear storage of split paddles. All flat-tab deck line fittings are set flush to present a streamlined look and to make rescue drills more fluid. Kajaksport hatch covers with internal tethers come standard in all Rockpool Kayaks.
